Obituary of Dorothy Frances Henwood
Dorothy F. Henwood, 96, of Danbury, wife of the late Raymond R. Henwood, died peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2017. She was born in Mount Vernon, New York on March 21, 1921, daughter of the late John G. and Gertrude (Pfister) Reitwiesner.
Dorothy was a longtime parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury. She served as the church secretary for many years, retiring well into her 80's. She was also a past member of the Alhambra Society at St. Gregory's.
In her younger years she worked alongside her husband, owning and operating The Hayestown Avenue Package Store in Danbury.
Dorothy is survived by several nieces and nephews in the Reitwiesner and Henwood families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 16th at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yonkers, NY. There are no calling hours.
In keeping with Dorothy's devotion to her church, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Gregory the Great Church.
