Obituary of Walter J. Brady
OBITUARY:
Walter J. Brady, 87, of Torrington, formerly of Brookfield, beloved husband of Winifred (Carren) Brady, died at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital on Monday, June 13th. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 9, 1929, son of the late Walter J. and Agnes (Connelly) Brady. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Church in Torrington, and a past parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Brookfield.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the peaceful occupation of Japan after World War II.
Walter was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his cherished wife of 57 years, Winifred, he will be sadly missed by his four children, Walter J. Brady, Jr., Gail E. Brady, Janet M. Brady, and Patrick J. Brady (Toni); his three grandchildren, Erin, Kellen and Matthew; and his great grandchildren, Benjamin and Julianne. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 24th at 10:30am at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel.
The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Thursday, June 23rd, between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, at the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to your local food pantry.
