Obituary of Catherine Theresa Hildebrandt
Catherine Theresa Hildebrandt, age 90 of Brookfield, died on Sunday evening at her home. She was the wife of the late William E. Hildebrandt.
Catherine was born October 22, 1925 in Bronx, NY the daughter of the late Richard S.E. and Sarah (Lynch) O’Connell. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Manhattan and worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigation during WWII. She later worked in the administrative offices of New York Telephone for a number of years following her marriage to her husband William in 1948.
In 1961, Catherine and her family moved to Brookfield. She worked as a parish secretary for Saint Joseph Church, Brookfield, later working as a travel agent for Sunshine Travel in Brookfield. As a parishioner of Saint Joseph Church, she was a member of the Confraternity of the Rosary, and the Saint Joseph Minstrel. She was a founding member of the Notables, and a member of the Brookfield Playhouse. She especially loved traveling and taking cruises.
Catherine is survived by her son Gregory W. Hildebrandt and his wife Elizabeth of New Milford, her daughter Karen Marucci and her husband Fred of Staten Island, NY, as well as five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Wednesday May 25th in Saint Joseph Church, Brookfield. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, New Milford.
The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield on Tuesday May 24th from 5 thru 8 pm.
