Rita C. Howells, 86, beloved wife of Joseph A. Howells, Ph.D. of Brookfield, died on Thursday, May 10th at her home. Rita was born June 9, 1925 in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia, PA , daughter of the late Joseph and Rosemarie (Fiorello) Ciccone.
Rita graduated from Overbrook High School and attended Mater Misericordia in Radnor, PA. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband of 60 years, Dr. Joseph Howells, Rita is survived by her son Richard J. Howells of Brookfield and her daughter, Jeanette Susan Howells of Bethlehem, PA; three grandchildren, Franklin J. Hudson, III, Tamkeika Marie Hudson and LaFina Widdick; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Ciccone Jr. and Robert Ciccone as well as one sister, Marie Kolbe and several nieces and nephews. Rita is predeceased by her daughter, Joan Marie Masterson and her sister Nancy Cipolloni. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 19th at St. Joseph Church, 159 Whisconier Rd., Brookfield.
There will be no calling hours. Donations Information
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 852 Brook St., I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.
