George Holick
January 30, 1934 - January 10, 2011
George Holick, age 76, of Danbury, beloved husband of Shirley May (Dunlap) Holick, died suddenly on Monday, January 10th. He was born in Danbury on January 30, 1934, son of the late Martin and Christine (Vanek) Holick and attended Danbury schools.
Known by everyone as "the carpet man" over the years he took many people under his wings.
He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War.
A lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, he served his church community in many ways and was a church cub scout leader.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, George was devoted to his family. He also enjoyed his fellowship in the Sokol Lodge and Racearena at the Danbury Fair.
George worked as a self employed carpet installer and was well respected in this community, making friends wherever he traveled.
In addition to his loving wife of 55 years, George is survived by his sons, Mark G. Holick and his wife, Allison of Danbury, Kevin J. Holick and his wife, Jackie of New Fairfield, Steven G. Holick and his wife, Kathy of Sandy Hook; his daughter, Christine R. Taylor and her husband, Edward of Danbury; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, Martin J. Holick of Florida, Robert K. Holick and his wife, Mary of Danbury; his sister, Joan Burlinson and her husband, Jack of Bridgewater; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 15th at 10:00am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Spring Street, Danbury with Pastor German officiating. . Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm. Donations Information
