Obituary of Richard Rhett Elliott

Richard Rhett Elliott March 09, 1940 - July 08, 2004 Richard R. Elliott of McDermott St., Danbury, devoted husband of Angela (Pinho) Elliott, died at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, July 8th. He was born in Burlington, VT., on March 9, 1940, son of the late Warren J. and Elizabeth (Towne) Elliott. He was a graduate of Southbury High School, class of 1959. Mr. Elliott was a veteran of Vietnam, serving with both the Marine Corp and the Army. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, and the Pistol Marksmanship Badge. He retired as Staff Sergeant after twenty years of service. Mr. Elliot worked as a diesel and auto mechanic for Marcus Dairy for eight years. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, a member of Teamsters Local Union 677 in Waterbury, the V.F.W. and the Danbury American Eagles. He enjoyed cooking for groups, both in the military and for Sacred Heart Church Bingo every Wednesday. He enjoyed Oregon and Vermont wilderness, hunting, fishing and camping. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Angela; his two sons, Gerald Elliott of Arizona and Richard Elliott of Oregon; his daughter, Barbara Elliott of Oregon; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Elliott of West Haven; his two sisters, Norma Cullins of Vermont, Carol Nornik of Danbury, Donna Vidinka of New York, and Catherine Elliott of Pennsylvania; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Daniel J. Elliott in 1990. Funeral Information Prayer Services will be held on Sunday, July 11th at 7:30pm, at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Burial will take place on Monday, July 12th, 1:00pm at Wooster Cemetery with Military Honors. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home on Sunday evening between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00pm.
