Samuel Drago
December 29, 1915 - September 06, 2010
Samuel Drago, affectionately known as "Poppy," of Danbury, husband of the late Nina (Macchiaverna) Drago, died in Danbury on Monday, September 6th at the age of 94. He was born in Bridgeport on December 29, 1915, son of the late Jack and Sadie (Sciacca) Drago.
Mr. Drago was a Veteran of World War II, proudly serving as a Mess Sergeant with the United States Army. He was the general manager of Kenmere Park on Lake Kenosia for many years. Later, he worked as a carpenter, owning and operating D & H Do All in Danbury. He was a long time parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church.
He will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Sadie Virtudes and her husband, Richard, of Danbury, Linda Ray and her husband, Frederick with whom he made his home; his four grandchildren, Thomas Virtudes, Gregory Virtudes and his wife, Carie-Ann, Adam Ray and Alissa Ray; and three great grandchildren, Emily, Hannah and Alex Virtudes. He is also survived by his brother, Philip Drago of NY; his two sisters, Rose Cromwell of NY, and Mary Jane Petrucci and her husband, Ercole of Bethel; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Josephine Doto and Anna Russo. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 11th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church. Burial of cremains will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family invites friends to gather at the home of Linda and Fred Ray following the committal. Donations Information
