Obituary of Dennis L. Dowling

Dennis L. Dowling April 23, 1959 - June 30, 2004 Dennis L. Dowling, 45, of Pine Drive, New Milford, died suddenly while on vacation in Westerly, Rhode Island, on Wednesday, June 30th. He was born on April 23rd, 1959, in Milford, son of John V. Dowling of New Milford and Patricia Ann (Murtagh) of Brookfield. Dennis was a graduate of Shepaug Valley Regional High School, Class of 1977. He received his B.S. in Aviation Maintenance Management from Parks College in St. Louis, MO. He was a licensed Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic. He worked as a Supervisor for Pitney Bowes Plastic Division for thirteen years and was most recently a self employed landscaper. Dennis enjoyed target shooting and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a talented in home improvements and landscape design. He was an outdoorsman who loved nature and animals. Most importantly he was a devoted family man and "Good Samaritan," known to carry a life preserver in every car "just in case" someone was in need. Besides his parents, he is survived by his four sisters, Patricia Finnegan-Hughes and her husband, Ray of Brookfield, Mary Kapp and her husband, Andrew of New Providence, NJ, Kate Dowling-Emenau and her husband, Michael of Oakland, CA., and Crissy Dowling-Ukers and her husband, Don of Watertown,; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his uncle, Father Larry Murtagh, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be sadly missed by his significant other, Kathy Best and her two sons, Chris and Randy. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 6th at 10:30am. at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys in Brookfield with Fr. Larry Murtagh concelebrating the Mass with Fr. George. Cremation and interment will take place at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Monday, July 5th between the hours of 5:00 - 7:00pm.
