Yolanda Diaz May 30, 1931 - February 06, 2011 Yolanda Diaz Born May 30, 1931 in Bronx, NY, Yolanda was the only child of Fernando Garcia and Dominga Pagan Guzman Garcia. Yolanda received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was 6 years old. Her Christian faith was seen through her caring actions and thoughtfulness. She graduated from high school and attended two years of college with a major in secretarial studies. Yolanda served the Lord as a missionary for a year. She was a secretary for the Institute for the Blind. Yolanda married Louis Raul Diaz on March 16, 1957 at Damascus Christian Church where they attended. They had four boys: Louis Gervasio, Daniel David, Mark Stephen, and Peter Andrew. The family moved to Danbury, CT, in 1968. Yolanda worked as an Executive Secretary at Danbury Hospital for 19 years in the Housekeeping and Engineering Departments. Many co-workers remember her friendliness and unselfishish service. Yolanda volunteered as a Den Mother and a District Commissioner in Cub Scouts and received recognition for her years of leadership and influence. Yolanda had Alzheimer's Disease for 21 years and was cared for by her loving husband of nearly 54 years of marriage. Her family remembers her for her faith, perseverance, encouragement, love of people, and her sense of humor. She died in her sleep on Sunday night, February 6, 2011, at the age of 79. Yolanda is survived by: her husband, Louis; her sons, Lou (Shirley), Dan, Mark (Teri), Peter (Julie); her grandchildren, Alyssa, David, Mallory, Laura, Stephen, Adam, Jane, Eric, Evan, Anne; and her great grandchild, Levin. Yolanda is preceded by her parents and her 10-year old grandson, Joel Funeral Information The Diaz Family thanks the family-owned Cornell Memorial Home for their excellent care and help with the graveside service on February 10, 2011. No flowers or donations are being received but a tribute by signing the guestbook or lighting a candle would be much appreciated. Thank you and God bless you for your prayers and condolences.
