Obituary of Mary Dexter

Mary Dexter August 15, 1932 - October 22, 2004 Mary (Mentis) Dexter, of Wilson Street, New Fairfield, wife of the late Richard L. Dexter, died at Bethel Health Care Center on Friday, October 22nd. She was born in Astoria, NY., on August 15, 1932, daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Bournias) Mentis. She was a graduate of Trenton Central High School, Class of 1950. Mary was the manager of her father's restaurant, the Mayfair, in Trenton, New Jersey. She later worked as a waitress for Howard Johnson's in Danbury, and retired from the Red Colony Diner after fourteen years. She enjoyed playing poker, Bingo, and bowling. She was happiest when spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by her son, Richard Dexter of Danbury; her daughter, Eileen Dexter of Santa Rosa, CA.; and her grandson, Sharif Halaweh of Santa Rosa, CA. She is also survived by her brother, James Mentis and his wife, MaryAnne of PA.; her two sisters, Paulette Costa and her husband, John of NJ., and Alice Moschas and her husband Steve of PA.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 26th, at 10:00am at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Fr. Luke Mihaly of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nyack, NY. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home on Monday, October 25th between the hours of 5 and 8 pm.
