Drew Crocker
January 02, 1961 - January 20, 2014
Drew Crocker (53) passed away at home on January 20th after a brief illness. He is survived by his father George Crocker, his mother Linda Talkington, his twin brother Darin, and Darin's wife Dorothy and their son Kyle. He had two step sisters Karin Face and Joan Bengtson and a step brother David Bengtson. Susan Schulte of Bethany had recently become his fiancé.
Drew graduated from Brookfield High School in 1979. He was an All-State high school gymnast, one of a few who mastered the "iron cross". He received his BS and MS at Southern Connecticut State University in special education and his 6th year certificate at UCONN. He received the following awards and honors: 2001 National Semi-finalist for Educational Technologist of the Year, 1991 ASSET of the Year (Apple Sponsored Special Education Technologist), and inclusion in Who's Who in American Education.
Drew worked at ACES, a school for disadvantaged children and young adults, for 23 years as a special education and technology teacher, was an independent computer consultant and trainer. Drew was a member of Saint Paul's Church in Brookfield where he was "born again" and served as a videographer for sermons and a cook for the Saturday morning Men's Prayer Breakfast and Bible study.
He was a volunteer at Dorothy Day soup kitchen, Jericho Partnership Inc, and Abilities Beyond Disabilities. Drew and Susan loved the outdoors: hiking, kayaking and camping. They also had a mutual concern for working with disabled people. Funeral Information
Both the calling hours and the funeral will be held at Saint Paul's Church, 174 Whisconier Road, Brookfield. Calling hours are on Friday, January 31st from 5 to 7 pm, and the service of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, February 1st at 11:00 am. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Burial will be at St. Paul's Memorial Garden in the spring. Donations Information
