Obituary of Anne Joyce Cousin

Anne Cousin January 27, 1927 - March 22, 2015 Anne Joyce Cousin Anne Joyce Cousin (née Lynn) died peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Danbury Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Cousin was born on January 21, 1927 to Harry F. and Loretta Lynn (née Joyce). She and her sister Mary, were raised by their parents in the Bronx. Anne was an alumna of Mount St. Ursula, studied at Georgian Court College and graduated from Cornell University in 1948. Anne went on to teach Home Economics at Eastchester High School prior to marrying Edward J. Cousin, Jr. on April 18, 1953. For the next 30 years following their marriage they lived in Scarsdale, NY and raised their 5 children. In their later years, Anne and Ed moved to Old Saybrook, Ct. Following her husband's death, Anne moved to Brookfield, Ct to be closer to her children. At the time of her death, Anne resided in Newtown, Ct. Family and friends will tell you that Anne was a beautiful, talented, intelligent, loving person who enjoyed raising her children, being visited by her grandchildren, playing the piano, playing bridge and knitting amazing sweaters. Anne is survived by her children, Edward J. Cousin, III and his wife Cathy, Jeffrey P. Cousin and his wife Lourdes, Michele Cousin and her husband Thomas Hartmann, Philip G. Cousin and his wife Juanita, Barbara Lynn Cousin and her life partner Steven Dee, her grandchildren Lauren Anne, Edward Joseph, Allison Patricia, Jeffery Paul, Christopher Edward, Kevin Thomas, Conor Joseph, Timothy James, and Patrick Francis, her nephew Paul T. Barnes, her niece Joan M. Barnes, and her dear "sister" Dawn Gaignat Root. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Evelyn Mccauley for all she did for Anne over the last several years. Evelyn was hired as an aide for Anne but came to be a close friend of Anne's and will forever be thought of as a member of the family. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 28th, at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield, Ct, followed by a brief service in the Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
