Alfred E. Cipriani

Alfred E. Cipriani, 78, of Danbury, husband of Johanna (McMillan) Cipriani, died at Danbury Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Brewster, NY on July 12, 1932, son of the late John and Charlotte (Folchetti) Cipriani. He was a graduate of Connecticut State Teachers College and received his Masters and Sixth Year degree from Fairfield University. He also attended Mount Carmel Hermitage and Monastery, and was an avid supporter of the Carmelites.
He was a Veteran who served with the United States Army, 14th Infantry, in the occupation of Germany, during the Korean War.
Mr. Cipriani started his career as a math teacher, advancing to Housemaster, and finally Principal of Broadview Middle School. Upon retirement as principal, he continued his career as a math teacher at Rogers Park and administered the Night School Program at Danbury High School. He was a member of the Teachers Union and was past president of the Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut.
Mr. Cipriani was a member of the Danbury Democratic Party who served as a Councilman at Large and was also on the Danbury Zoning Board. He was a proud supporter and State Representative for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and organized many fundraisers for them. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his wife, Johanna, he will be sadly missed by his five children, Brenda Fegley (Dan) of Brookfield, Brian Cipriani of Thomaston, Claudia Cipriani (Donna Dimuzio) of Southbury, Lawrence Cipriani (Lisa) of New Fairfield, and James Cipriani (Nicole Randazzo) of Danbury; and his seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, John and Robert Cipriani; his sisters, Charlotte Ashby-Palmer, and Antoinette "DeeDee" Scridani; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, John and George Cipriani; and his sister, Alvina Caprio. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 18th at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family. There are no calling hours. Donations Information
