John B. Zealor

John B. Zealor of Danbury passed away quietly on Nov. 30, 2010 at Danbury Hospital.
Betty, his devoted wife of 58 yrs. was at his side. He was born April 5, 1921 in Roxbury, to the late Russell and Catherine (McGovern) Zealor.
John attended school in Roxbury and enlisted in the Army Air Corp. Jan. 14, 1942.
He attained rank of Staff Sgt. and served as a tail gunner with the 98th Bomb group in the African theater. John received the Distinguished Flying Cross as well as several other medals for his actions.
He was a production mechanic for many years at Berol corp. as well as U.S.. Rubber, the Danbury Bowlarama and Patterson supply. He also was a member of King Street volunteer fire department.
John was an avid NASCAR fan attending many races, following their standings and points race. He enjoyed bowling as well as golfing but his love for hunting, fishing, gardening, and being near the ocean were passed on and shared by his children and grandchildren.
John is survived by his loving wife Betty (Patterson) Zealor; his two sons Ron Zealor of Danbury, Don Zealor and his wife, Patty of Kent; one daughter Diane Zealor of California; eleven grandchildren, Brad Zealor his wife Barb of Ansonia, Colleen (Zealor) Cyr her husband Fred of Danbury, Dan Zealor his wife Coreen of Seymour, Luke, Travis, Matt, Mike and Kyle Davis all of Danbury, Sarah Zealor of Kent and Zachary and Rachel Zealor of Wallingford; six great grandchildren, Joe and Julia Cyr, Danny and Carson Zealor,
Madison and Jordyn Zealor; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Lew Patterson and his wife Rose.
John was predeceased by his sisters Mary, Madeline and Nancy a brother William
and a son John jr. Funeral Information
A memorial service will be held Tuesday Dec. 7, 2010 at 3:00 at King Street United Church of Christ. Friends are welcome to join the family afterwards in the church hall. Donations Information
