Obituary of John Edward Wood

John Edward Wood, Jr. March 02, 1928 - September 09, 2004 John Edward Wood, Jr., age 76, of Danbury died on Thursday, September 09, 2004 at Harborside-Glen Hill. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth J. (Evanstock) Wood. Mr. Wood was born on March 2, 1928 in Sandy Hook, CT. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea and was decorated with the Purple Heart. A lifelong Danbury resident, Mr. Wood was employed by the Danbury Board of Education retiring from his position as custodian 14 years ago. He enjoyed going to the Grand Prix Motors garage, building stock car models and completing jigsaw puzzles. Besides his devoted wife of 52 years, John is survived by 3 children: John E. Wood III and his wife Lucy; Jane Joo and her husband Frank; and James Wood all of Danbury; 2 grandchildren: Collin and Dylan Wood and 2 sisters Dorothy and Florence Wood. Funeral Information A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2004, at 3:00pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, CT. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 until the time of the service at 3:00pm.
