Obituary of Alexander J. Tomczuk

Alexander J. Tomczuk February 06, 2003 - October 06, 2003 Alexander J. Tomczuk, 80, of Danbury, devoted husband of Charlotte (Schullery) Tomczuk, died on Monday October 6th in the presence of his loved ones, at Danbury Hospital. He was a lifetime member of the Danbury community, born on February 6, 1923, son of the late John and Veronica (Jackiewicz) Tomczuk. He attended Sacred Heart School and Danbury High School. Mr. Tomczuk was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. He was a recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and Distinguished Unit Badge. He was a professional contractor, owning and operating Atom Tile Co. in Danbury for forty years. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury, where he was an Altar Server as a boy. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying the Yankees & the Giants, as well as local football, baseball and bowling. Besides his cherished wife of 53 years, Charlotte, he is survived by a daughter, Jill Tomczuk-Dowdall and her husband, Edward Dowdall, of Granite Springs, NY; a brother, Joseph Tomczuk and his wife, Kay, of State College, PA; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all for his talent, his warmth, and legendary good nature. He was predeceased by sisters, Kazi Smith and Helen Sienkiewicz. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Danbury Hospital, Primary Care Center of Danbury, and the Carmel VA Clinic, for their care and attention. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Thursday, October 9th at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Cottage Street, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 8th between the hours of 5 and 7 pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Alexander Tomczuk to the Danbury Hospital Development Fund earmarked for either Praxair Cancer Center or Marcus Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit, 24 Hospital Ave, Danbury, CT. 06810
