Edmund O. Swenson of Danbury passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 19th with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Kay (Tripp) Swenson. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows on Sunday, October 10, 2010.
Mr. Swenson was born in Danbury on January 8, 1935, son of the late Eric and Olga (Greene) Swenson. He grew up in Georgetown, attended Danbury High School and graduated from Henry Abbott Technical School as a Machinist. Mr. Swenson was a member of the Connecticut National Guard where he was on active duty for 3 years. He worked at CBS Records for 28 years. He retired from Hologic (Lorad) in 2001. He was an avid golfer playing on the Hologic team, sharing good times with his team mates, especially "Tom the Kid" as Ed liked to call him. He was a former member of the Georgetown and Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Departments.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Marie and his brother Roy Swenson. He has three daughters, Debra Zilinek (Tom) of Brookfield, Cynthia Hess (Tom) of Brookfield and Terri Rourke (Michael) of Danbury; two stepdaughters, Darlene Fiddner of Springfield, MA and Denise Preusse (Jeff) of Brookfield; and a stepson Kevin Fiddner of Redwood City, CA. He has seven grandchildren, Adam, Tyler, Jennifer, Andrew, Chris, Eric, Justin and two step-grandchildren Janei and J. Louie Perkins. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law Jean Swenson of Danbury, along with a niece; three nephews; and his godson, Roy Eric Swenson. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, October 22nd at 8:00pm with Deacon William Murphy of St. Gregory the Great Church officiating. Cremation and interment in Wooster Cemetery will take place at the direction of the family.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00pm. Donations Information
