Obituary of Mary Marchison Straiton

Mary Marchison Straiton November 10, 1914 - October 01, 2004 Mary M. (Marchison) Straiton age 89 of Codfish Hill Road, Bethel, Connecticut died at Danbury Hospital on Friday, October 1st, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on November 10, 1914 daughter of the late Peter Marchison and Solomia (Periech) Marchison Palochick. In her early years she attended Georgetown schools. In 1937 she married the late Neil Straiton and spent many loving years together raising a family until he passed away in 1979. She worked for Norwalk Hospital as a Dietician in early years until spending 25 years working for Newtown Schools in their cafeteria. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Bethel and also a member of the Women's Guild at the church. She was an active member of the Democratic Town Committee in Bethel and ran the annual clam bake for many years. Mary Assisted with 4H and enjoyed playing cards in her spare time. She was an avid METS fan, most of all she will be remembered as a loving Wife, Mother, Sister and Nonnie who always had time for her family and friends. Mary will be sadly missed by her two sons: Lawrence and his wife Julia Straiton and Richard and his wife Sharon both of Bethel. One daughter: Marianne and her Husband Vincent Maltese Jr. of Oakville, CT. Two Sisters: Anna Franceschini of Ridgefield and Mary Archerie of Danbury. Two Sister-In-Laws: Irene Palochick of Danbury and Gloria Marchison of Ridgefield. Six beloved Grandchildren: Scott Straiton, Laura and her husband John Ulicki, Mark Straiton, Andrew Straiton, Vincent Maltese and Peter Maltese. Two Great Grandchildren: Peter Maltese and Amanda Thompson. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 5th at 10:00 at St. Mary's Church in Bethel with interment following at St. Peter Cemetery in Danbury. The family of Mrs. Straiton will receive friends on Monday at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, CT from 4:00pm - 8:00pm.
