Obituary of Dolores Stanley

Dolores (Dee) Stanley September 08, 1941 - June 18, 2004 Dolores "Dee" (Aikler) Stanley, 62, of Brookfield, died on Friday, June 18th at the Danbury Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Dee was born in Stamford on September 8, 1941, daughter of the late John and Carmina Aikler. She graduated from Mother of God Academy in Stamford. She was a real-estate agent with Davis & Hoyt/Better Homes and Gardens of Brookfield where she spent 28 years as an active and dedicated realtor in the Greater Danbury Area. She was an active parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Dee married William Stanley in August 1959. This August would be their 45th wedding anniversary. Together they had four children and fifteen grandchildren; Mark and Christine Stanley of Brookfield; and their children, Shane, Linda, Mark, Michael, and Kyle; Ned and Alane Meehan of Brookfield and their children, Victoria, Kate and Diane; Diane and Sam Ajdinoski of Roxbury and their children, Vanessa, Jake and Tara; William, Jr. and Colleen Stanley of Danbury and their children, Bill, Jack, Josh, and Matt. Also, left to mourn her passing is her brother and his wife, John and Jane Aikler of Stamford and their four children. She also leaves several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dee was a beloved and devoted grandmother who spent much of her free time at baseball games and school plays. She was an active volunteer in the community. She recently received and award for ten years of prison ministry, she volunteered at the Dorothy Day Hospitality House, was a member of St. Joseph's Social Concern Committee, and visited the sick in the hospital that had no families. She was always cooking for the sick and shopping for the needy. She left a legacy of serving, loving, and giving to everyone. She was never judgmental, never critical, always quietly doing God's work. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 22nd at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Burial will follow in Prince of Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Brookfield. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, June 21st between 3:00-5:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm.
