Vincent Francis Serpa age 88 of Hidden Brook Drive, Brookfield died on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at Danbury Hospital. Vincent was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 23, 1916 son of the late Michael and Rose (Sarlo) Serpa.
In 1940 Vincent married his wife Frieda C. (Carleo) Serpa. They spent 64 years of loving marriage raising a family. In 1944 Vincent enlisted in the United States Navy, he served during World War II as a Ship's cook. He was stationed on the USS Whitman and was decorated with the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with one star and also the Victory Medal. Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy Vincent went on to work as a Mechanic for the New York City Transit Authority until his retirement. After his retirement he went to work for Marine Midland Bank until 1981 when he and his wife settled in Brookfield, Connecticut.
Vincent was known for his great love of family and friends and was also a member of the Brookfield VFW, AARP and the Senior Citizen Bowling league in Brookfield.
Mr. Serpa will be sorely missed by his wife and their Two Daughters: Rose Ann and her husband Michael Gallo or Chicago, IL, and Elisa and her husband John Nelson Sr. of Brookfield, CT. Five Grandchildren: John Nelson, Michael John Gallo, David Gallo, James Gallo, and Rose Ann Gallo. Five Great Grandchildren, Along with several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield with Rev. Fr. Samual V. Scott celebrating. Interment will follow with full military honors at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bethel, CT.
Friends are invited to call on the family of Mr. Serpa on Thursday from the hours of 2:00pm - 4:00pm & again from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, CT . Donations Information
