Obituary of Fred W. Seidl

Fred W. Seidl June 21, 1913 - June 15, 2004 Fred W. Seidl of Hilltop Manor, Danbury, devoted husband of Mildred (Stasney) Seidl, died at Hancock Hall on Tuesday, June 15th, at the age of 90. He was born in New York City on June 21, 1913, son of the late Charles and Mary (Paska) Seidl. At the age of six, Mr. Seidl started gymnastics at the TJ Sokol Hall on 71st St. in New York. Upon marrying and moving to Danbury he joined Sokol Lodge 30 where he continued in competition and was a gym instructor at the old Sokol Hall on River St. He was currently the President for District Jan Francisci, and held various officer positions for Lodge 30, which included its Board of Directors. He was an active participant at regular Lodge 30 meetings until his passing. A longtime member of the Danbury Community, Mr. Seidl was formerly a hatter for McLaughlin Hat Company. He retired as a Setup Man for Bard Parker in 1976. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time in his home and garden. Besides his cherished wife of 64 years, Mildred, he will be sadly missed by his two sons, Fred Seidl, Jr. and his wife, Sylvia of New Milford, and Edward Seidl and his wife, Janice of Danbury; seven grandchildren, Debra LeRose, Lisa Seidl, Brian and Christopher Seidl, David Dodge, Brenda Meyer and Cheryl Nichols; as well as eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mildred Dodge and a brother, Frank Seidl. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Spring Street, Danbury, on Saturday, June 19th at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, June 20th between the hours of 5 and 8pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.
