Obituary of Joan P. Schweitzer

Joan P. Schweitzer July 15, 1931 - January 13, 2005 Joan P. (Krubel) Schweitzer, 73, a longtime resident of Redding, died Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the Walden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Concord, MA. She was the wife of the late Herman A. Schweitzer, Jr., who died in 1996. Mrs. Schweitzer was born on July 15, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY and raised in New York. She attended the White Plains School of Nursing and the University of Connecticut. She was the only child of the late Paul and Vivian Krubel. Mrs. Schweitzer married in 1954 and was a resident of Redding for 50 years. A private care nurse, Mrs. Schweitzer was very fond of her grandchildren and especially enjoyed watching her granddaughter in the Nutcracker. In recent years she enjoyed her exercise classes and helping out at the Senior Center in Redding. She loved the ocean, traveling, and enjoyed her camp in Canaan, Connecticut. In 1997, she realized a life long dream of traveling to Alaska She is survived by three daughters, Aline Rochefort and her husband, Robert of Norwalk, Elise Marshall and her husband, David, of Acton, MA., and Dennet Rarrick and her husband, Thomas of Gulf Breeze, Fl; and Five grandchildren, Morgan and Mallory Rochefort, Tim and Ian Marshall, and David Rarrick Funeral Information In remembrance of the life of Joan P. Schweitzer, the family will be receiving friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday, January 18th between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Associate.
