Obituary of Richard A. Scalzo

Richard A. Scalzo August 28, 1931 - November 07, 2003 Richard A. Scalzo died Nov. 7, 2003 at the Danbury Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was 72 years old and lived on Bates Place in Danbury. Mr. Scalzo was born in Carbondale, PA Aug. 28, 1931, son of the late Ferdinando and Angelina Lupo Scalzo. He graduated from Danbury High School Class of 1949 and was an Air Force Veteran serving stateside during the Korean War. Mr. Scalzo retired from Branson Ultrasonics in Danbury as Shipping and Receiving Manager. He also worked for Barden Corp. in Danbury for 17 years. Mr. Scalzo attended St. Gregory Church and was a member of the Concordia Society of Danbury. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Richter Men's Club and in his early years played softball with the Danbury Industrial League. He will be sadly missed by his 10 children: Richard P. Scalzo of Hopkinton, MA, Brian Burlinson of Danbury, Shane Burlinson of New Milford, Christian Scalzo of Danbury and Michael Scalzo of Bethel, Deborah Blais of New Milford, Patricia Scofield of Waterbury, Sandra Abdella of Danbury, Tracey Burlinson of Bethel, and Shawna Rena of Brookfield. Also 16 loving grandchildren and 4 beloved great-grandchildren. A devoted brother, John Scalzo of Danbury, also survives. He was predeceased by his brother, Fred Scalzo. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury on Tuesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital, 24 Hospital Ave., Danbury, CT 06810.
