Gloria Saxton
September 22, 1944 - June 30, 2010
Gloria (McCollough) Saxton, age 65, of Brookfield, beloved wife of Richard Saxton, died at Danbury Hospital on Wednesday, June 30th. She was born in New York, NY on September 22, 1944, daughter of the late Albert J. and Fannie (Pitts) McCollough. She was a graduate of Danbury High School.
Mrs. Saxton worked as a credit manager for Sealed Air Corp in Danbury for over 30 years. She enjoyed decorating, cooking and traveling. She also enjoyed being active, playing racquet ball and walking. One of her family's fondest memories includes when Gloria decided to walk in the American Stroke Association ½ marathon in Hawaii. She was determined to finish just to get the T-shirt!
In addition to her cherished husband of 48 years, Richard, she will be sadly missed by her daughter, Patricia Saxton Rose and her husband, Rennick of Orlando, FL; her granddaughter, Samantha Rose; her brothers, Albert, Jessie, and Eddie McCollough; and her sisters, Ida Gray-Tinsley, Carol Farmer, and Debra McCollough. She is also survived by Louise Thomas, a special cousin; as well as numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was predeceased by her brother, William McCollough. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday, July 7th at 7:00pm with Rev. Ivan Pitts officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm. Donations Information
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
