Rita M. Raymond, 79, of Danbury, beloved wife of Richard Raymond, passed away Saturday, November 27th at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Brookfield, on October 12, 1931, a daughter of the late Louis and Mabel (Shuler) Picone. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1949.
Mrs. Raymond was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus church in Danbury as well as the Treasurer of the Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid shopper, especially buying things for her grandchildren! She also took particular interest in attending and watching her grandchildren's many sporting events. Rita was a bookkeeper for all of her life, most notably, in the 1950's and 1960's as the bookkeeper for the "Town" of Danbury.
In addition to her devoted husband of 59 years, Richard, she will be sadly missed by her son, Gary Raymond and his wife Mary of Danbury; her daughter, Darlene Wallin and her husband, Lars of New Milford; her 8 grandchildren, Lauren, Gary, Kelsey, Shane, McKenna, Lars, Kylie and Nicole. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Picone of GA; her sister, Kate Valine of Danbury; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Louis Picone, Jr.; her sisters, Genia Gemza, Isabel Cutler, Margaret Pace, and Marion Germanetti. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 1st at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday, November 30th between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm. Donations Information
