Carole Eunice Bateman Pumroy was born Sunday July 24, 1932 to John "Jack" B. Bateman and Lois M. (Gregory) Bateman in Bridgeport CT, and passed away June 18, 2014 in Stamford CT.
Carole attended Lordship Elementary School and graduated from Stratford High School, class of 1950. Married May 26, 1961 to Jack L. Pumroy; lived in Brookfield CT for 46 years.
Carole worked for many years in the insurance industry, both before and after marriage, including agencies in Fairfield, New Milford and Danbury CT. She retired from Boeheringer Ingelheim, Ltd., after several years in the contracts administration department. During retirement, Carole enjoyed swimming at the Brookfield YMCA and travel with various local Senior Citizen groups, as well as volunteering in the Baby Room at the Brookfield YMCA Day Care. She served on the board of directors of the Whisconier Village Condominium Association, where she lived, and surrounded her home with flowers.
Carole will be sadly missed by her daughter Betsy K. (Pumroy Siciliano) and son-in-law Timothy Purk of Rye Brook NY, son Jonathan L. and daughter-in-law Jody (Bellingham) Pumroy of Leicester NC, niece Mallorie J. (Weidman) Parkinson of Buford GA, granddaughters Corey A. Pumroy and Holly T. Pumroy of Danbury CT, granddaughter Jessica C. Pumroy of Leicester NC, step-granddaughters Margaret J. Purk of Urbana OH and Lynne (Bellingham) Joseph of Leicester NC, step-grandson Jonathan Bellingham of New Milford CT and ex-daughter-in-law Suzanne (Handrahan) Pumroy of Danbury CT. Additionally, Carole is survived by lifelong friend Joan (Horkheimer) Platt of Huntington CT and longtime companion Fred B. Candee of Easton CT. She was preceded in death by nephew Robert L. G. Weidman, husband Jack L. Pumroy, sister Janice M. (Bateman) Weidman, son-in-law Thomas E. Siciliano. Funeral Information
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 26th at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield, CT.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 25th at Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd, Brookfield from 3:00 - 7:00 pm. Donations Information
