Obituary of Frances G. LaBarbera

Frances G. LaBarbera October 25, 1925 - June 17, 2004 Francis G. LaBarbera, 79, of Brookfield, husband of the late Antoinette (Cazolla) LaBarbera, died Thursday, June 17th, at Glen Hill Harborside in Danbury. Mr. LaBarbera was born in Yonkers, N.Y., October 25, 1925, son of the late Gasper and Madeline (Bova) LaBarbera. He was educated in New York. After completing high school he joined the Army in 1942. As part of "The Greatest Generation," he attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Upon returning he became a small business owner in Yonkers before moving to the Danbury area in 1977. Here, he became a local businessman until his retirement. Always on the go, he continued to work after retirement alongside his son in the baked goods business. An avid golfer, fisherman and horse racing enthusiast, Mr. LaBarbera also spent time. as a member of the Catholic War Veterans and The Veterans of Foreign War. His happiest times were when he spent time with his family. He is survived by his son, Frank J. LaBarbera and his wife, Louise of Brookfield; his grandson, Frank R. LaBarbera of Brookfield; his granddaughter, Lauren Teixeira and her husband, Michael of Southbury; as well as his great-grandson, Michael. He will be sorely missed by his longtime companion, Bridie Austin of Danbury. Besides his wife, Antoinette, he was predeceased by his brother, John; and his sister, Josephine. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Glen Hill Harborside and the Regional Hospice of Danbury for keeping him comfortable in his last days.
