Wayne A. Wheeler, 81, of Danbury, beloved husband of Robin (Hunt) Wheeler, died at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, December 19th. He was born in Norwalk on May 27, 1940, son of the late Arthur and Marjorie (Iskiyan) Wheeler.
Wayne served in the United States Marine Corp Reserve, then after working in the electronics field for several years, he decided to become self employed, enjoying being his own boss in two different businesses. He was self taught and had a real knack for fixing things and doing innovative repairs in his 100 year old home, and always enjoyed working in his workshop. He was keenly interested in world affairs and history, especially the civil war and World War II.
He grew beautiful tea roses, and loved cutting the latest blooms to make a bouquet for Robin.
Wayne was quiet and reserved outside the home, but when he made a friend, they were a forever treasure to him.His family was the center of his world. As husband, Dad, and Grampa, he prayed for them and loved them deeply, unconditionally, and with great pride and joy in each one. He loved teaching and playing chess with each of his children and then later, grandchildren Jamey, Katie, and CJ.
In addition to his cherished wife of 60 years, Robin, he will be sadly missed by his three children, Wendy Garizio and her husband Paul, Richard Wheeler and his wife, Anastasia, and Daniel Wheeler and his wife, Hannah; his thirteen grandchildren, Dr. James Garizio and wife Lydia, Katie, Allie, and CJ Garizio, Hugh, Brigid, Tim, Niall, Ciaran, Catriona, Molly, Joey, and Agnes Wheeler, also two baby grandsons Isaac and Luke Michael Wheeler, whom he has just met in Heaven. He is also survived by his sister, Paula Fazio, brother-in-law Guido, and sister-in-law Carol Payne, sister and brother-in-laws Dawn Hunt and Lawrence Walkin, and Peter Hunt and Karen Heath. He was predeceased by sisters Joan Banks and Audrey Ryan.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 22nd at 2 pm at Life Baptist Church, 40 Stadley Rough Rd in Danbury.
