Obituary of Robert Harry Jesser
Robert H. Jesser, 86, of Danbury, beloved husband of the late Barbara (Biggs) Jesser, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Monday, February 12, 2018. He was born in Manhattan, NY on September 24, 1931, son of the late Harry and Eleanor (Fitterer) Jesser.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked as a custodian engineer for the New York City Board of Education. Upon retirement he enjoyed working alongside his son in construction.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His happiest moments were spent on Candlewood Lake, boating, sailing, jet skiing with his wife and dogs, or simply enjoying the view. He loved building model air planes in the loft of his home, and was a member of the Experiment Aircraft Association.
Most importantly, Robert had a deep faith in Jesus. He shared his love of Christ, and that through Him we would be given the gift of salvation. It brings his family peace knowing that Robert now stands in glory with the Savior.
Robert will be sadly missed by his five children, Karen Zitta and her husband, Franklin, Neil, Daniel, Peter and his wife, Monica, Andrew and his wife Robyn; his fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Saturday, February 17th at 11:30am. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning between the hours of 10:00 – 11:30am.
In the words of his son, Andrew, Robert Jesser was truly “the most interesting man in the world.”
