Obituary of Eugene Peter Ceperley
Eugene Peter Ceperley, 85, died Jan. 8, 2018. He was born in Danbury, CT, and was the son of the late Clifford and Theresa Ceperley. A longtime resident of New Milford, he retired in 1997 after nine years with the New Milford Parks & Rec Department. He was a jack of all trades and a friend to many, with a smile and a joke. Eugene was a decorated Korean War veteran, serving from 1952-55, and received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. He lost his final battle with a small cell lung cancer. Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Alice (Gully) Ceperley; his sons, Peter, Brian, Mark, Christopher and James; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbra and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Aunt Amanda and sisters Alta, Hilda and Dorothy Clady. There are no calling hours. Services are private. Services and arrangements are by Cornell Memorial Funeral Home, with burial with full military honors at Elmwood Cemetery in Bethel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion, 377 Kent Road, New Milford, CT 06776.
