Obituary of Ralph Jack Gulliver, Jr.
New Milford - Mr. Ralph Jack Gulliver, Jr., age 80, of New Milford, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday January 5, 2018 following an extended stay at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Gulliver was born August 16, 1937 in Danbury son of the late Ralph Jack Gulliver, Sr. and the late Ida E. (Williams) Gulliver. "Jack" was best known for his passion for hiking and love of nature and animals. He was a grand storyteller, historian and an avid hunter and fisherman. He travelled the globe and loved experiencing different cultures and meeting all walks of life. He and his daughter, Lori shared many wonderful travel experiences together including climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro to celebrate his 70th birthday. He was the owner of The Gulliver Company Real Estate Holdings and was a member of the Nature Conservancy, Ducks Unlimited, the Audubon Society and Pheasants Forever.
Jack is survived by his daughter: Lori Gulliver-Smith and her husband Gregory P. Smith of Cape Cod, Ma., three nieces: Brigitte Gulliver, Patricia Isacsson and Lisa Cummings, cousins: Bill and Cathy Durgy, and dear friends: Ellen and Al Surprenant. He was predeceased by a brother: Howard Robert Gulliver. Jack will also be truly missed by his beloved companion, his dog Memphis.
Jacks family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday January 10, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Funeral Home, 247 White St. Danbury. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
