Obituary of Harry Tucker, Jr.

Brookfield - Mr. Harry T. Tucker, Jr., age 83, of Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 2 , 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Kay (Wahl) Tucker.

Mr. Tucker was born September 5,1934 in Danbury, son of the late Harry T. Tucker, Sr. and the late Helen M. (Gereg) Tucker. He was retired as a Marine Contractor and owner of Harry Tucker and Sons Inc. in Brookfield, a business that he started with his father in 1958. He enjoyed working with his son Richard and daughter in law Andrea, who continue the business today, vacationing in Florida with his family and investing in real estate. He loved people and had the natural gift of making friends wherever he went. He was a natural teacher who enjoyed sharing his knowledge with everyone. . He was very active with Habitat for Humanity, taking time during his vacations to help with home construction, and also volunteering at local soup kitchens and with animal charities in Connecticut and Florida.

After graduating from Henry Abbott Technical School in Danbury, Tom proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy aboard the submarine chaser U.S.S. Amherst. His abundant patience and teaching skills lead to his being a Scuba dive instructor, for the Navy. Back home in Brookfield, Tommy designed and created his own Scuba equipment and explored the Quarries in New Milford and Brookfield.

Mr. Tucker is survived by his sons: Peter Tucker of New Mexico, Richard Tucker and his wife Andrea of Brookfield and Billy Wahl and his wife Susan of Vermont, his grandsons Owen Tucker and his wife Analyn of Texas and Austin and Kyle Wahl, 2 great grandchildren: Benjamin and Hannah Tucker and several cousins. He will also be missed by his loyal companion, his dog Jinx and friend Sussanne Vadas of Florida

 

The family would like to express their gratitude to Regional Hospice and to Bright Stars, nursing Registry, in Danbury for the extremely compassionate care that was given to Tom and for the care that they gave to all of the family and friends that came to visit him. We feel so very blessed to have them in our lives.

Honoring Tom’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. Family and friends are asked to remember him by sharing their knowledge with others and lending a helping hand to someone in need. The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
