Obituary of Gail "Tracy" Cugini

Gail (Tracy) Cugini,   6/26/1940 – 12/1/2017 daughter of the late Almerico and Lillian Halstead-Dragomani survived by her daughter Loren Salerno, son-in-law Patrick Salerno, brother Alan Dragomani, wife Elena and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband John (Jay) Cugini and sister Gloria Gahan.

Tracy was generous of spirit and self.  She touched many peoples lives in a positive and caring way.  When Tracy first moved to Danbury she worked at the very first Arthur Murray Dance Studio and it was there that she met her late husband Jay.  Together they celebrated 51 years of marriage.  They had one daughter to whom they devoted their lives.  Until Tracy's last days she continued to work for the third generation owned family business of over 40 years as the Corporate Secretary at Lorenco Industries in Bethel Connecticut.

Tracy was very involved in charitable work for DAWS and Hospice.  She was an active member of the Danbury Garden Club where she was the Artistic Director.   She won the distinguished service award in 2014 as well as a federated garden club award.  Her floral designs won multiple flower show awards. 

Like her mother and sister, Tracy was a gifted painter who worked in oils and painted beautiful landscapes and animals.

Her life long love of animals found her rescuing all types from birds, ducks and squirrels to cats and dogs.  All of the rescued cats and dogs were adopted and given a loving home. 

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 5th at 7:00pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening between 5:00 and 7:00pm.
