Obituary of Alicia Pickert
Alicia R. Pickert, 45, of Danbury, died on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital, after a long illness. She was born in Danbury on November 4, 1971, beloved daughter of Betsy (Conner) Henderson and the late Robert E. Pickert. She was a graduate of Western Connecticut State University with a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice, and Immaculate High School, Class of 1989.
Alicia was passionate about helping others, and did so through her work as a social worker for the Department of Social Services, and previously with Mental Health Associates in Danbury. She was active in community outreach for local homeless, volunteering, fund raising and collecting food for area charities.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and going to Sea Side with her dog. She was an avid vegetable gardener and a great cook. Most importantly she was an amazing mother who loved her children above all else.
In addition to her mother Betsy of Danbury, she will be sadly missed by her two children Ryder and Dakota; her sister, Dana Dinho, her husband Joseph of Brookfield; her nephew, Conner and niece, Sydney. She is also survived by her aunt, Claudia Coopersmith and her husband Richard, her uncle, C. Duncan Conner and his wife Patti, her cousins, Benjamin and Aaron Coopersmith, Zachary Conner and his wife, Jillian, Justin, Meghan and Matthew Conner, as well as the father of her children, Eugene Laurel.
A graveside service will be held at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury on Friday, July 14th at 11:00 AM.
Family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd, Brookfield on Thursday, July 13th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
