Obituary of Alvera Ann Chiarella

Alvera (Eriquez) Chiarella, 93, of Bethel, beloved wife of the late Frank Chiarella, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, April 30, 2017.  She was born in Danbury on August 21, 1923, daughter of the late Frank and Louise (DeAngeles) Eriquez. 

Mrs. Chiarella worked at Lee’s Hat Factory and later as an assembler for Risdon in Danbury.   She enjoyed flower gardening, and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. 

She will be remembered for her unconditional love of her family, the twinkle in her eye, and how she loved to prepare everyone’s favorite dishes.  She loved the holidays, listening to music, especially Opera, and spending time with her family. 

She will be sadly missed by her three children, Philip Chiarella (Betty), Michael Chiarella (Rusty), and Louise Gunter; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Chiarella; her ten grandchildren, Kate (Mike), Joshua (Julia), Scott, Matt (Erin), Ashley, Tyler, Nicholas, Jami (Chris), Paige (Cody), and Hannah; her five great grandchildren, Audrey, Ian, Riley, Kassandra and Blake.  She is also survived by her two sisters, Ida Eriquez and Dolores Tierney; her sisters-in-law, Lena and Ann Eriquez and Laura Chiarella; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her son, Kevin Chiarella; her brothers, Fred, Louis, John, Donald and Frank Eriquez; and her sisters, Mary Chmielewski and Rena Prandini. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 4th at 11:00am at St. Mary Church, Bethel.  Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will received friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Thursday morning between the hours of 9:30am and 10:30am. 

Memorial Contributions in her memory may be made to the Bethel VNA, Patient Care Fund, 70 Stony Hill Road, Bethel, CT 06801.
