Obituary of Donald E. McTonic
Donald Earl McTonic, 79, of Bethel, CT passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving wife, Maryanne, on Monday April 3, 2017 at Saint John Paul II Center in Danbury, CT. Mr. McTonic was born July 31, 1937 in Jerome, PA, a son to the late Joseph J. and Helen L. Shaffer McTonic.
Mr. McTonic graduated from Davidsville High School in PA, Class of 1955. He then served in the National Guard before pursuing a career in the manufacturing of electronics working at Norden Systems, Consolidated Controls and finally retiring from Pitney Bowes. Donald enjoyed being out in nature hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a handy man and enjoyed fixing whatever needed fixing. He was also a proud member of Lighthouse Ministries International located in Danbury.
He will be missed by his wife of 60 years, Maryanne McTonic; daughters: Donna Davis of Chesapeake, VA, Kathleen and Robert Gadoci of Newtown and Helen L. and Ernest Corrao, Jr. of Bethel; a son: Don J. McTonic; 4 grandchildren: Luke A. Bird, Jonathon Bird, Anthony Gadoci and Danielle Gadoci; 2 great-grandchildren: Leah A. and Kaylah Bird; 2 sisters: Phyllis Ickes of Boswell, PA and Patricia and Jim Witt of Central, PA; a brother: William McTonic of Jerome, PA along with several nieces and nephews. Mr. McTonic was predeceased by his son, Joseph Allen McTonic.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3pm on Sunday April 9, 2017 at the Danbury Lighthouse Ministries Church, 26 West St., Danbury.
Memorial contributions may be made in Donald's honor to the Danbury Lighthouse Ministries Church.
