Obituary of Edward William Staib

Edward W. Staib, Jr., 71, lifelong resident and beloved member of the Bethel community, and cherished husband of Judy (Renzi) Staib, entered into eternal peace at his home on Saturday, January 28th after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Bethel on April 13, 1945, son of the late Edward Sr and Margaret (Tyler) Staib. Edward graduated from Bethel High School, class of 1963, and Norwalk Technical College. Eddie was a Veteran of the United States Army Reserve, retiring as a First Sergeant after thirty years of service. He was a jack of all trades, owning and operating Staib & Son Home Repair. He could fix just about anything and he loved doing just that! Judy was the love of his life and the two shared nearly three decades together. They enjoyed summers at the lake house in Southbury, wintering in Daytona, Florida, vacationing with family and celebrating holidays with friends, and especially “Cruisin’ to the Sycamore” in his 1954 Ford Skyliner, “Earth Angel.” Eddie would have been perfectly happy to go back in time and live in the 1950’s. He loved the music, the cars, and the décor. His favorite room in his house was fashioned after a 1950’s diner, where he loved to entertain his family and friends. In addition to his cherished wife, Judy, he will be sadly missed by his three children, Meg Munson, Michael Norkowski and his wife, Maureen, and Tracy Norkowski; his three grandchildren, Shannon and Rebecca Munson, and Katelyn Norkowski. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends. He lived a memorable life where he touched the lives of so many in some small way. He was a wonderful man that will be loved and missed by all. Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, February 3rd at 11:00am. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday between the hours of 3:00 and 7:00pm. 50's attire welcome. Memorial Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.StJude.org
