Obituary of Laura Rose Esposito

Laura Rose M. Esposito, 83, of Danbury, wife of the late James V. Esposito, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 25th at Laurel Ridge in Ridgefield. She was born in Danbury on June 19, 1934, daughter of the late Daniel and Lucy (Souza) Monteiro. She was a graduate of Danbury High School. Laura worked as a real-estate broker, owning and operating VIP Realty in Danbury. At the time, she was one of very few females who specialized in commercial real-estate. Laura was a "people person" who enjoyed music and dancing. She was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, and had served as a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed volunteering at Hancock Hall and was involved in their Gentle Touch Program. She also enjoyed gardening and loved animals. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Laurie Esposito and her husband, Michael Sheiken of Danbury; and her sister-in-law, Rita Lendaro of Danbury. She is also survived by her nephews, Jeffrey Lendaro and his wife, JoAnne, Alan Lendaro and his partner, Scott, and Randy Esposito and his wife, Jan; her niece, Darlene Brechter and her husband, Rob; as well as Sue Massena; great nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, January 30th at 10:30am. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Danbury Animal Welfare Society at Daws.org or to Because for Paws at Because4Paws.org. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Regional Hospice and Homecare of Western Connecticut, and to the entire staff at Laurel Ridge, especially her caregivers, Joan, both Sheila’s, Thora, Kim, Rita and Kelly, for their compassionate care and support.
