Obituary of Richard Francis Glaser
Richard F. Glaser, 71 of Bethel, husband of Alana (Morgan) Glaser died January 22, 2017 at Danbury Hospital.
Richard was born in Freeport, NY on April 4, 1945, a son of Irving and Veronica (Leahy) Glaser. He attended Danbury Catholic schools and Danbury High School.
He enlisted in the U.S Army in 1964 and served in the Signal Corps. Richard worked as a quality control engineer throughout his career, most recently with Pitney Bowes, from where he retired in 2011.
Richard was married to the love of his life, Alana, on October 29, 1966 in Manhattan, NY.
Richard was known for his keen wit and sense of humor. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and veracious reader. Richard was truly proud of his Irish heritage and was pleased to have had the opportunity to travel to Ireland. Absolutely nothing in this world meant more to Richard than the love he had for his family and friends. He was devoutly Catholic and was always quick to help anyone in need. This quality carried through in the charitable services that Richard was involved with. These organizations included The Knights of Columbus Pavia Council # 48 and the Bethel American Legion Post 100.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Richard is survived by his daughter Katie DiCesare and her husband John of New Milford, son Thomas Glaser and his wife Elizabeth of Waterbury and son James Glaser of New Milford and his fiancé Maribel Alzamora. Siblings: Marilyn Avalone and brother-in-law Frank of West Haven, CT. Diane Cappiello and brother-in-law Nick of Prospect, CT, Robert Glaser and sister-in-law Dale of New Milford, CT. Catherine Jordan and brother-in-law Gary of Middletown, CT. Richard was also survived by an aunt, Patricia Meyer of Hopewell Junction, NY. Grandchildren: Jack and Justin DiCesare of New Milford. Sarah, Molly and Benjamin Glaser of Waterbury, CT. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who he adored.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday January 27th at Saint Mary Church, Dodgingtown Road, Bethel. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street Danbury on Thursday January 26th from 4 thru 7 pm.
