Obituary of Kevin Joseph Seeley
Kevin J. Seeley, 63, Ret. Brookfield Police Officer, cherished husband of Patricia (Schimkosky) Seeley, died at Danbury Hospital on Monday, October 17th. He was born in Newburgh, New York on July 19, 1953, beloved son of Joseph Seeley of Wallkill, NY, and the late Dolores (McKeel) Seeley. He was a graduate of Ulster Community College.
He began law his law enforcement career at the City of Newburgh Police Dept. Kevin served as Chief of Police of the Lake Lillinonah Authority for many years, devoted to ensuring safe and enjoyable recreation for all.
Kevin devoted his life to serving our community, retiring after 35 years of service with the Brookfield Police Department. Upon retirement he enjoyed working as a School Safety Officer for Middle Gate Elementary School in Newtown. He was also a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He enjoyed boating on Candlewood Lake and Lake Lillinonah, relaxing on the beach, and fishing with his sons. His happiest moments were spent with his wife, watching his sons' sporting events, or meticulously caring for his home and yard. Family was the most important thing to him and he always looked forward to family vacations, but also loved just spending time with his sons.
In addition to his father, Joseph, and his wife of 40 years, Patricia, he will be sadly missed by his two sons, Kevin W. Seeley of South Salem, NY, and Patrick C. Seeley and his wife, Laura of Brookfield; his grandson, Harrison Seeley; his brother, Kent and his wife, Tina; his sister, Caren Palen and her husband, Frank. He is also survived by his uncle, Charles "Butchy" McKeel; his aunt, Paula Lewis; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held privately at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, NY.
The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Thursday between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.
