Obituary of Mildred Jane Halas

Mildred (Ferry) Halas, 98, of New Fairfield, wife of the late Emil Halas, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 18th. She was born in Danbury on January 11, 1918, daughter of the late Irving and Minnie (Daily) Ferry. Mrs. Halas worked as a switchboard operator for Southern New England Telephone and was a member of the telephone company Pioneers. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1936 and was a part of the reunion committee. She loved bird watching, crossword puzzles, and in past years, wintering in Daytona Beach, FL. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be sadly missed by her son, Dale E. Halas and his wife, Linda of Sherman; her grandsons, Dale Halas, Jr. and his fiancé, Laura, and Emil Halas and his wife, Meredith; her great grandchildren, Scot, Tyler, Dillon and Vivian Halas; and her granddaughter-in-law, Maritza Halas. She was predeceased by her grandson, Scot Halas. Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Thursday, September 22nd at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Gerow Cemetery, New Fairfield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday morning between 10:00 and 11:00am.
