Obituary of Mary Dorothea Placella

Mary Dorothea (North) Placella, 71, of Danbury, beloved wife of Rocco N. Placella, Jr., died on April 13, 2016 at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Norwalk on May 21, 1944, daughter of the late Jacob A. North and Edna Ells. She was a graduate of Bethel High School, and worked for many years for Grolier in Danbury. Above all she was a loving wife, wonderful mother, and homemaker. Mary was an active member of the First Assembly of God in Brookfield for more than 35 years. She enjoyed her church life and volunteered as Missionette Coordinator, Sunday School Teacher, Small Group Leader, and was the kitchen coordinator for church receptions. She was also a member of the Women’s Ministry, Prayer Group, and Garden Club. Mary loved reading to her grandchildren, driving to Vermont with her sweetheart, drawing, photography, and discovering her genealogy. But mostly she loved Jesus. She believed in Jesus as the Son of God and Light of the World. She is in heaven today because of her relationship with God. In addition to her husband of 53 years, Rocco, she will be sadly missed by her four children David Placella, Susanne Quattro and her husband Peter, James Placella and his wife Danelle, Cathleen Jackson and her husband Michael; and six grandchildren Ethan Placella, Samantha Quattro, Joshua and Jacob Placella, Lucy and Noah Jackson. She is also survived by her sister Drucilla Ekwurzel, and brothers James North, Daniel North (Susan), and Robert North (April) and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 19th at First Assembly of God, 133 Junction Rd, Brookfield. Cremation will follow at the direction of the family. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 18th at First Assembly of God from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to First Assembly of God, Missions Department.
