Obituary of Robert E. Pease

Robert E. Pease, a longtime resident of Somers, NY and Danbury, CT, died on February 9, 2016 as a result of complications from multiple myeloma. He is survived by his loving wife Roseni, his children Julie, Adam, Andrew and Robert as well as eleven grandchildren. He was a devoted family man who took great pride in the goodness and accomplishments of his family. The son of Noel A. Pease and Larene R. Pease who predeceased him, Bob was born on October 7, 1946 in Van Wert, Ohio. He earned undergraduate degrees in History and Economics from Concordia College, and received his Juris Doctor Degree from Valparaiso Law School. He then settled in Somers, New York. Throughout his life, Bob donated his time and expertise to improve each community of which he was a part. Through the years, he volunteered with the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury, the Shenorock Water District, the Westchester Volunteer Service Bureau, the Bronxville Rotary Club, St. Luke's Church of Somers, and the Reis Park Trustees. He was a proud member of the Somers Lions Club, the Somers Ethics Board, and the Somers Historical Society. He was a founding member of the Somers Land Trust and the Somers Library. He was also a scout leader, coached several youth sports, and taught Sunday School. For pleasure, Bob enjoyed cooking, gardening, and carpentry. Bob served as the Town Attorney of both Somers and Yorktown where he championed efforts of responsible residential and industrial development. He was especially proud of his contributions to increase emergency services, the establishment of the Joint Water Works, and the improved fire safety and environmental laws. For his service, he received the Westchester County Executive’s Certificate of Distinguished Service, a Westchester County Board of Legislator’s Proclamation and a New York State Certificate of Merit. With specializations in real estate and trust law, Bob built a successful practice with his partner and friend James F. Lysaght, Esq. While practicing, he represented many large and well known financial institutions, and private clients. Robert’s legal influence and participation as a member of the Board of Directors of numerous companies played a role in the construction or renovation of landmarks such as the NYC subway system, the locks in the St. Lawrence Seaway, the White House and others. He enjoyed retelling the story about how his perseverance and advocacy for a client resulted in the U.S. Congress amending the Internal Revenue Code. Bob will be remembered as a thoughtful and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
