Obituary of Daniel D. Amendola

Mr. Daniel D. Amendola April 10, 1934 - September 12, 2003 Daniel D. Amendola, formerly of East Pembroke Road, Danbury, devoted husband of Filomena "Phyllis" (Panza) Amendola, died in Tarpon Springs, Florida, at the age of 69. He was born in Danbury on April 10, 1934, son of the late Joseph and Rose Biglarderi Amendola. He was a graduate of Hamden High School, Class of 1953 and Providence College, Class of 1959. Dan made his home in the Danbury area until 1996 when he and Phyllis moved to Florida. In his early years he worked as an elementary school teacher in the Bethel School System. He retired as a Security Guard from Hughes Optical in Danbury after fifteen years of employment. He was a parishioner at St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury. Dan loved and adored his family. During the last few months of his life his greatest source of happiness came from his four grandchildren. He was a loving and generous father to his four children who had the extra security of knowing that he was willing to do anything for them. He loved and deeply appreciated his wife Phyllis for all the care and understanding she gave to him. Just one month before he died, they happily celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary with family. He reminisced often about his deceased parents who he sorely missed and talked fondly of childhood memories. He was proud of his heritage and instilled in his children the value of tradition. He was overly warm and gracious to his dear friends and others who briefly crossed his path. Besides his loving wife, Phyllis, he will be sadly missed by his children, Daniel "Danny" J. Amendola of Danbury, Mary Angela Amendola of Danbury, Rose P. Cruz of Bethel, and JoAnn Amendola of Bethel; his four grandchildren, Christian and Alycia Hordos, Ava and Benjamin Cruz. He is also survived by a brother, Louis Biglarderi and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Biglarderi, and sisters, Mary Velardi, Teresa Mascari, and Anna Page. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury, on September 19th at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Thursday, September 18th between the hours of 4 to 6 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
